Police are encouraging the public to sign up for messaging alerts in the MCSCU app.

Two North Island police detachments have joined with the Missing Children Society of Canada (MCSC) to help find missing children, backing the MCSC app called MCSCU rescue.

MCSC rescue allows the public to help find missing children through the app and leave tips.

Police are asking the public to get involved by:

  • Downloading the app.
  • Viewing the active cases.
  • Leave a tip about a missing child. Can be confidential or anonymous.
  • Register to receive a tip. When a child goes missing in your area, you will receive a tip.

Local police are asking the public to download the app and sign up for text updates.

Users can set their geographical area to ensure all the information and alerts is local and relevant.

“The more individuals involved can result in more tips for the police and hopefully a quick and safe recovery for the missing child,” said RCMP in a press release.

MCSC was started in 1986 and has moved from handing ou1t posters to using technology in finding missing children. 1,579 children of 1,898 total cases have been returned safely since 2018.
