Police in Nanaimo are looking for witnesses to a multi-vehicle crash that happened last month.

At around 11 p.m. on July 23, three motorcycles were travelling behind an older model Mazda near Turner Road and Island Highway, when one of the motorcycles hit the Mazda, lost control and collided with another motorcycle, according to Nanaimo RCMP.

Two motorcycle riders received significant injuries and were hospitalized, while the roadway was closed for “several” hours, said RCMP. The driver of the Mazda was unharmed and another motorcycle rider managed to avoid the crash.

The driver of the motor vehicle was not injured and the third motorcyclist managed to avoid the collision. The injured motorcycle riders have since been released from the hospital.

However, an investigation into the crash continues and investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them.

Nanaimo RCMP is asking anyone who might have footage of the crash or pre-crash footage to contact the Nanaimo Municipal Traffic Unit at 250-754-2345.
