John Larson, 72, was last seen in south Nanaimo on Oct. 25, 2018.

RCMP are looking for a missing 72-year-old man who was last seen Thursday morning in the Petroglyph Provincial Park area in south Nanaimo.

Police said John Richard Larson, who goes by Rick, walked away from his home early in the morning and has not returned, which is unusual for him.

Larson is described by police as Caucasian, 6’2″ (188 centimetres), 230 pounds (104 kilograms) and clean shaven. He may be wearing a black hat and blue jeans. He may also be carrying a black backpack.

Anyone who sees Larson or has information on his whereabouts are asked to contact Nanaimo RCMP at (250) 754-2345.

Correction: A previous version of this story said the missing man’s name was John Larson. On Friday, Nanaimo RCMP issued a correction and said the missing man actually goes by Rick.
