The Nanaimo RCMP has issued multiple warrants for a 31-year-old “violent offender” who allegedly caused damage to a residence last Thursday.

Police are searching for Brian Sutherland, who has been reported to have broken the front door and smashed a window to a home in south Nanaimo.

According to an RCMP report, officers were called to the residence shortly after midnight on Thursday, Feb. 18 and spoke with the woman who was inside the home at the time of the incident.

She told investigators that Sutherland showed up and demanded to be allowed inside. The woman told police that when she refused, he repeatedly kicked at the front door and then threw a ceramic tile through a side window.

Following the incident and prior to police arriving, Sutherland was said to have fled the scene.

Officers brought along an RCMP Police Dog, but they were unable to establish a track.
