Memorial to be held for murdered Nanaimo teen Makayla Chang

WATCH: Almost two years after she disappeared, no arrests have been made in the death of Makayla Chang

A memorial will be held next month for a Nanaimo teenager who was murdered in 2017.

Police have yet to make an arrest but Makayla Chang’s family is still hopeful justice will be served.

Makayla disappeared in March of 2017.

She had just turned 16-years-old.

The teen’s body was found two months later, in May of 2017.

Makayla’s family say no information about the homicide investigation has been released.

They’re holding a memorial on March 1st to honour Makayla on what would have been her 18th birthday.

Organizer says it’s also to raise awareness about the case, which they say needs to remain a top priority for police.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
