Saanich police say no one was injured after a car crashed into a BC Hydro pole early Saturday morning.
Police were called to the 3400-block of Cedar Hill Road around 1:40 a.m. for a single-vehicle collision.
“The driver crashed into a Hydro pole, which caused Telus and Hydro wires to be knocked off the pole,” said Saanich Police Sgt. Damian Kowalewich.
The street was closed as crews repaired the wires and investigated the scene.
While BC Hydro and Telus were able to restore service overnight, the pole itself will require “substantial repairs,” according to Kowalewich.
Police say the driver did not display any signs of impairment, and told officers that he was swerving to avoid an animal when the crash occurred.
