Oak Bay Police say alcohol is not believed to be a factor in a crash that sent a car partly through a business’ window last week.

The crash occurred on the afternoon of Oct. 24 at the RBC branch along Oak Bay Avenue.

Police say a 79-year-old woman “drove her vehicle into a portion” of a window at the bank at 2255 Oak Bay Ave.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene, though police say no one was injured.

Officers at the scene determined that alcohol was not a factor in the crash and that the cause is likely “driver error.”

The senior’s car was towed from the scene because of front end damage, according to police.

Meanwhile, another vehicle that was slightly damaged in the crash was able to be driven away.

“This matter is still under investigation and a medical fitness review has been forwarded to the Superintended of Motor Vehicle Branch,” said Oak Bay police in a release Monday.
