VicPD say a man was arrested after he was seen ripping branches off a tree and trying to hit a person with them in the 700-block of Fisgard Street.

A man was arrested after he reportedly was seen tearing branches off trees, chasing people, and causing damage to buildings in Victoria.

The Victoria Police Department issued a media release Tuesday, stating that shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 31 a man was seen ripping branches off a tree and trying to hit a nearby person with them in the 700-block of Fisgard Street.

Police said the man then chased other pedestrians and was threatening violence towards them. He also pushed a large dumpster into the roadway on Fisgard Street, damaged multiple parked vehicles, and a glass door to a multi-unit commercial.

VicPD officers located and arrested the man near the intersection of Blanshard and North Park streets a short time later.

The unidentified man was transported by police to holding cells and facing charges that include one count of uttering threats and five counts of mischief.
