A search had been underway at the lake this weekend for Evans-Hayes. RCMP had searched Thetis Lake following her disappearance but the official search was called off days later. This weekend, friends of Evans-Hayes continued the search.
On Tuesday morning at around 11:10 a.m., the Capital Regional District (CRD) said the main beach at Thetis Lake Regional Park was closed to the public until further notice following a request from West Shore RCMP. At around 3:20 p.m., the CRD said the beach had been reopened.
