A USB memory stick containing potentially sensitive information reported missing by the District of Lantzville this week has been found.

The device containing details in relation to the business of the District during a period between 2014 and 2018 was misplaced by Councillor John Coulson and reported on June 7th. The district alerted the public on Tuesday.

The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of B.C. was also informed.

On Thursday, Coun. Coulson reported that he’d found the missing USB memory stick in one of his laptop knapsacks, and he believes that it was in his possession the whole time.

Earlier, the District of Lantzville did say that it takes security very seriously and would be formalizing procedures into a policy to protect information carried on mobile devices.
