Investigation underway after body found near Swan Lake Sanctuary: Saanich Police

Saanich Police say an investigation is underway after an unknown male was found deceased near Swan Lake Sanctuary on Wednesday.

The body was found in the area of Haynes Road and Douglas Street, according to police, who say detectives believe there is no risk to the public.

“Saanich Police detectives, forensics specialists, and the British Columbia Coroners Service are working in partnership to identify the deceased male and determine the cause of death,” Det.-Sgt. Damian Kowalewich said in a news release.

Police say more details are expected to be released as the investigation progresses, and ask anyone with information about the death to call Saanich Police’s major crime unit at 250-475-4356 or 1-800-980-1919.
