Police searching for suspect accused of robbing horse carriage operator in Victoria

A Victoria Carriage Tours operator was reportedly robbed near the intersection of Menzies and Belleville streets at around 9:40 p.m. on Aug. 16.

Police in Victoria are searching for a man accused of robbing a horse carriage operator.

According to a media release issued by the Victoria Police Department, a Victoria Carriage Tours operator was robbed near the intersection of Menzies and Belleville streets at around 9:40 p.m. on Sunday.

VicPD said the operator was approached from behind by a man who pushed her to the ground, took the woman’s pay envelope, and fled the scene on a bicycle, heading eastbound on Belleville Street.

Officers searched for the suspect but have so far come up empty and are asking the public for assistance.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male in his mid-30s, with a long and full beard. He was seen wearing a black and red baseball cap, dark coloured hoody and jeans. The victim reported seeing the man riding his bicycle in the area before the attack.
