With festive events around Victoria cancelled, CHEK is helping the holidays go virtual. This weekend’s lineup will feature a full slate of merry moments, from Ballet Victoria’s performance of The Nutcracker to the Victoria Symphony’s Christmas Pops.

“It’s awesome to give local musicians, local talent exposure like this on a local station and we’re really proud to partner with CHEK and bring these performances to the television screen,” says Roll.Focus. Productions co-founder Mike Walker.

“That made a big difference for the dancers because they did all this work and now it’s going to be shared,” says Ballet Victoria executive director Paul Destrooper.

The weekend will also highlight Christ Church Cathedral’s lessons and carols for Christmas, as well as the Royal Canadian Navy’s Naden Band. It’s CHEK’s way of showcasing great local talent and bringing your favourite events right into our living room.

“We’ve been around 13 years, we depend on people, we depend on people’s generosity a lot,” says Destrooper. “I thought we’re all in the same boat, let’s just try to do something that everyone will enjoy,” adds Destrooper.

“It’s an opportunity to see just the incredible talent that exists here in this city, musically and from a performance perspective we have some of the top performers in the world here in Victoria and they really show it off this weekend,” exclaims Walker.

CHEK’s holiday performances kick off Saturday at 8 o’clock with Traditions, a Naden Band Holiday Concert, which will be followed by Ballet Victoria’s The Nutcracker.
