Ella is Greater Victoria's newest hotel canine ambassador.

Ella the golden lab is settling into her new digs at Oak Bay Beach Hotel, where she’s greeting guests and staff with happy wags as a canine ambassador.

Formerly with the BC & Alberta Guide Dogs Program, Ella is a charming and gentle companion with all the traits to be a wonderful addition to the Beach Drive hotel’s “Grand Lobby experience,” according to staff in a release.

Madone Pelan, the hotel’s general manager, says studies have shown that interactions with dogs have a positive impact on stress reduction. In fact, the BC SPCA says dogs are “stressbusters” good for pet owners’ hearts and minds.

“Since Ella’s first day, she has brought a smile to each one of our team members and guests,” said Pelan in the release Wednesday.

But the canine’s fetching more than just grins.

“Ella is here to make every guest’s stay ‘pawsitively’ memorable,” reads an Instagram post.

Her presence “provides a unique opportunity for guests to unwind, destress, and create lasting memories during their stay,” added Pelan.

Staff laud Ella as a lovable companion and say her presence is “boosting team morale, increasing job satisfaction and promoting a sense of unity among colleagues” all the while endorsing the hotel’s dog-friendly suites.

They say they’re committed to providing an environment of comfort, luxury and personalized attention, with Ella the perfect hire for the ambassador role.

“Ella, the newest member of our team, embodies these values and elevates the overall experience for both our guests and staff,” they say. “We invite you to come and experience the tranquillity and warmth that Ella brings to our establishment.”
