One person is in hospital following a house fire in Port Alberni.
According to the Port Alberni Fire Department, crews responded to a unit at a housing complex on Gertrude Street at around 4:30 p.m. on July 25 following reports of fire and heavy smoke.
Crews were able to knock down the fire over the course of an hour and damage was contained to just the unit.
A family of four was also able to escape the unit and BC Ambulance treated one woman for smoke inhalation.
RCMP and fire department are still investigating the cause of the blaze.
