Eight COVID deaths over the weekend in B.C.; 506 new cases

B.C. is reporting eight new COVID deaths since the previous update on Friday, and 506 new cases.

Two of the deaths were in Island Health, four in Fraser Health, one in Vancouver Coastal Health, and one in Northern Health.

There are 271 people hospitalized with COVID-19 and 49 are in intensive care.

In Island Health there are 98 new cases.

There are 168 new cases in Interior Health, 114 in Fraser Health, 74 in Vancouver Coastal Health, 52 in Northern Health, and none in people who normally live outside Canada.

There is one new health care facility outbreak at Selkirk Seniors Village in Victoria.

From March 11 to 17, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 16.8 per cent of cases. From March 4 to 17, they accounted for 26.1 per cent of hospitalizations.

In the province, 13 per cent of eligible people have received fewer than two doses of a vaccine, and 9.2 per cent have received zero doses of the vaccine.

Since December 2020, the province has administered 11,449,892 doses of COVID vaccines.
