People who are 30 and older in B.C. can now access free rapid tests at participating pharmacies.

All eligible people can pick up one kit, which contains five tests, every 28 days for free.

To pick up the tests for yourself, you have to present a personal health number.

To pick up on behalf of someone else, you need to bring the person’s name, personal health number, and date of birth.

If you take a test and the result is positive, you are asked to self-report your results to the BCCDC website.

People picking up the tests should not be showing symptoms at the time of collection, these tests are for future potential use.

As of March 17, the province has shipped almost 7.6 million tests to pharmacies, and more than 2.3 rapid tests have been dispensed through the over 1,300 participating pharmacies.

The province says it is expecting to receive an additional 2.5 million tests from the government in the coming weeks.

On March 15, the government expanded availability to those 40 and older, with the plan to roll out distribution of the test kits to each age group over time.
