The search for a driver is underway after an elderly woman was reportedly struck by a vehicle in Victoria last Wednesday.

Police said just after 9;35 p.m. on Oct. 25, officers were called to Fort Street and Foul Bay Road for a report of a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle.

After they arrived, officers were told by witnesses that the victim, who was an elderly woman, had been taken to hospital by an ambulance. Witnesses said the driver of the vehicle stopped, showed concern for the woman involved in the collision and spoke with paramedics. However, police said they were told by witnesses that he left the scene of the crash after the ambulance went to the hospital.

Police are now looking for the driver who is described as a Caucasian man, approximately 70-years-old and balding with white hair. Police said he was wearing glasses and a blue jacket. The man’s vehicle is described as a beige sedan.

Anyone with information about the identity of the driver is asked to call Victoria police at 250-995-7654 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
