New direct flights announced Friday morning will connect Victoria to Montreal and Nanaimo with Toronto starting next June.

The Victoria Airport Authority says Air Canada will have three weekly non-stop flights to and from Montreal, beginning June 22.

The flight from Montreal on a 136-seat Airbus 319 will arrive in Victoria at 10:17 a.m., with a return trip from Victoria at 11:05 a.m.

“We recognize that air carriers have many choices to make with their fleets and appreciate the commitment Air Canada is making with this new service,” VAA President and Chief Executive Officer Geoff Dickson said in a release.

Starting June 21, four Air Canada flights per week will travel between Nanaimo and Toronto.

Flights will arrive from Toronto at 11:28 a.m. and take off from Nanaimo at 12:15 p.m.

“Adding scheduled service like this reinforces our commitment to being the Central Island’s gateway to the world,” Nanaimo President and CEO Mike Hooper said.
