Curbside recycling collection cancelled Tuesday in Victoria due to weather

The City of Victoria has announced that all curbside recycling collection has been cancelled for all scheduled routes on Tuesday, December 28, 2021.

The decision to cancel recycling collection comes following significant snowfall that occurred over the last few days, making the roads more difficult to navigate.

According to the City of Victoria, the decision to cancel pickup is because of the unsafe weather and icy road conditions across the region.

Residents affected are advised to hold their recycling until their next collection day, notes the City, as there is no limit on how much recycling can be placed at the curb.

Recyclables can also be dropped off at a depot free of charge.

Under an agreement with Recycle BC, the CRD provides recycling collection services to 123,000 single-family homes in the region. The program, regulated by the Province of BC, is funded by producers of packaging and paper products.
