SD61 confirmed Tuesday that Central Middle School and Strawberry Vale Elementary School have experienced COVID-19 exposures.

Coronavirus exposures have been reported at schools in Victoria and Saanich.

Greater Victoria School District (SD61) confirmed on social media that Central Middle School and Strawberry Vale Elementary School have experienced COVID-19 exposures.

Central Middle School — located on Fort Street in Victoria — experienced exposures on April 20, 21, 23, and 26.

Northridge Elementary School — located on Rosedale Avenue in Saanich — experienced an exposure on April 26.

“If an individual may have been exposed, Island Health will contact them directly. Notification letters have been sent to the school community,” the district said in a tweet.

Island Health has not added the schools to their exposure list as of Tuesday night.

An exposure is defined by Island Health as a single person with a lab-confirmed COVID-19 infection who attended school during their infectious period.

Island Health says if a parent or guardian sees a notification on its school exposure site, it does not necessarily mean their child has been exposed to COVID-19.

If a parent or guardian does not receive a phone call or letter from public health, a child can continue to attend school, according to the health authority.
