Landsdowne Middle School has had a COVID-19 exposure

Landsdowne Middle School in Saanich has experienced a COVID-19 exposure, according to School District 61 and the Vancouver Island Health Authority.

The district said in a Tweet that the potential dates of exposure are March 3, 4, 5, and 9.

Island Health is completing contact tracing, and if a person may have been exposed, Island Health will be contacting them directly.

As of Friday morning, there are a total of 1o schools on Vancouver Island with a COVID-19 exposure, the latest of which are two schools, one in Victoria and one in Nanaimo.

Island Health notes that if a parent or guardian sees a notification on the health authority’s school exposure site, it does not necessarily mean their child has been exposed to COVID-19.

Island Health outlines that Public Health members work with the school and school district to ensure close contacts are notified directly and provided specific guidance.

If a parent or guardian does not receive a phone call or letter from Public Health, a child can continue to attend school, Island Health notes.
