Students and staff at two Courtenay schools may have been exposed to COVID-19.

Island Health says both Queneesh Elementary School and George P. Vanier Secondary School recently experienced COVID-19 exposure events.

The health authority says Queneesh Elementary School experienced an exposure on Feb. 17 while George P. Vanier Secondary School had exposure events on Feb. 16 and 17.

Both schools were added to the health authority’s exposure list on Saturday.

The additions come after Island Health added Carihi Secondary School in Campbell River to its list after multiple people at the school tested positive for the deadly virus.

Island Health defines an exposure as “the presence of lab-confirmed COVID-19 case(s) in the school” during the period when a person is infectious.
