A crane truck rollover on Lochside Drive.

The removal of a crane truck that rolled over into a ditch on Lochside Drive in Central Saanich is now estimated to cost around $30,000.

Peninsula Towing who was first coordinating the removal says if all the permits are in by Monday the earliest it could be removed is Wednesday.

The owner of the vehicle is now heading the recovery efforts.

It’s proving to be difficult though as the truck is in a very soggy area. A small amount of oil also spilled requiring oil leak mats, dam and a boom.

Officials also said on Friday that trees will need to be cut down and gravel brought in to build up the other side of the road to allow recovery equipment to be used to get the truck out.

Underneath the road surface is a water main that provides water to every home on the Saanich Peninsula.

The crash happened just north of Martindale Road, there were no injuries.
