The three electoral areas in the Comox Valley Regional District are up for election.

The incumbent in each area is running for re-election.

Advance voting will be on Oct. 5 and 12 in the Comox Valley Regional District Civic Room from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. On Oct. 6 there will be advance voting at Denman Activity Centre Gymnasium from 9 a.m. to noon, and New Horizons Hall from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Voting locations on general voting day on Oct. 15 are different for each electoral area, and outlined below. The times for all polls are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Voters in areas A and B will also have a chance to vote for school trustees on the Comox Valley School Board, while the trustee for area B has been acclaimed.

Each electoral area will have one elected director.

Electoral Area A, Baynes Sound-Denman/Hornby Islands, has three people running. The incumbent, Daniel Arbour, as well as Gordon Kennedy and Tamara Meggitt.

On Oct. 15, voting will take place at:

  • Union Bay Community Hall – 5401 Island Highway South, Union Bay
  • Royston Community Hall – 3902 Island Highway, Royston
  • Hornby Island Elementary School – 2100 Sollans Road, Hornby Island
  • Denman Activity Centre Gymnasium- 1111 Northwest Road, Denman Island
  • CVRD Civic Room – 770 Harmston Avenue, Courtenay

Electoral Area B, Lazo North, has three people in the running. The incumbent, Arzeena Hamir, as well as Richard Hardy and Keith Stevens.

Voting locations on Oct. 15 will be at:

  • North Island Distance Education School (NIDES – formerly Tsolum Elementary) – 2505 Smith Road, Courtenay
  • Airport Elementary School – 1475 Salmonberry Drive, Comox
  • CVRD Civic Room – 770 Harmston Avenue, Courtenay

Electoral Area C, Puntledge-Black Creek, has two people running. Edwin Grieve, the incumbent, and Matthew Ellis.

Voting locations on Oct. 15 will be:

  • North Island Distance Education School (NIDES) – 2505 Smith Road, Courtenay
  • Living Waters Church – 2222 Regent Road, Black Creek
  • CVRD Civic Room – 770 Harmston Avenue, Courtenay

In 2018, 5,425 people voted for a voter turnout of 29.1 per cent.
