Comox Valley RCMP reaching out to public after human placenta found on beach

Police say a human placenta was found on a beach at Goose Spit in Comox.

Comox Valley say are looking for information from the public after a human placenta was found on a beach at Goose Spit Friday.

“This placenta may be associated to a mother and/or baby who require medical assistance.  We want to ensure they’re alright and have access to any medical care required”, Const. Monika Terragni, Media Relations Officer, Comox Valley RCMP, said in a statement.

Police said on Oct. 2, they received a report of a placenta, possibly human, deposited on a beach at Goose Spit in Comox.

The woman who made the discovery at approximately 10:30 a.m. was walking along the beach. Police said she was not sure if the placenta was human in origin so contacted RCMP.

Police said the initial investigation shows that the placenta is of human origin.

“It is with an abundance of caution that we are reaching out to the public” Terragini said.
