Community coming together to support a Syrian refugee attend UVic

On Sunday, April 28, 2019, community members will be coming together to support a Syrian refugee attend the University of Victoria.

Sari Alesh and his friends will be playing a benefit concert to raise money for tuition.

The renowned violinist is a former member of the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra and a former music tutor in Syria.

He fled the civil war about three years ago and now lives in Victoria.

Since arriving on Vancouver Island, he has played at a variety of concerts.

He now aims to pursue a degree in Education at UVic.

The concert will be at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 28 at St. Philip Anglican Church, 2928 Eastdowne Rd., Victoria.

Tickets can be purchased at the door for $20 or online here.
