Part of a covered parking lot was also covered.

A section of Bay Street near Blanshard Street was blocked off while crews cleaned up the water. The road reopened just after 8 a.m.

Dwayne McDonald with the City of Victoria said the water main broke sometime overnight on Bay Street and started to flood downstream in a construction area.

“We could see the roads all heaved. There’s some damage going on,” McDonald said.

McDonald said he expected crews would be in the area until 3:30 p.m. as some road base needs to be repaved.
