There’s good news for burrito fans on Vancouver Island.
The popular Mexican-inspired restaurant chain Chipotle is opening its first location on the Island in downtown Victoria.
Eager Chipotle fans first spotted a job posting for a “general manager” position at a location in Victoria on the restaurant’s website earlier this month.
On Wednesday, the chain confirmed with CHEK News that it was opening a new location at 1070 Douglas St. sometime “this summer.”
The company adds that the location will aim to “maximize energy efficiency, and utilizes 100 per cent renewable energy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from energy use at this restaurant,” a spokesperson said.
The U.S.-chain has 40 locations across Canada, including 26 in Ontario, 13 in British Columbia and one in Alberta.
The eatery in Victoria will be the first one in B.C. that is located outside Metro Vancouver.
