RCMP say this pictured of missing Nanaimo woman Sherry Corrigal is considered recent.

Police in Nanaimo are asking for the public’s help in locating a a missing woman who hasn’t been seen since September 2023.

Mounties are searching for 22-year-old Sherry Corrigal, who was last in contact with family in early September, and was reported missing on Nov. 9.

Police say they are “extremely concerned” for her well-being, and that it is “very unusual” for her not to have contact with her friends and family for this long.

Since she was reported missing, the Nanaimo RCMP has formed a full-time team of investigators to search for Corrigal.

While the team has followed up on dozens of leads, Mounties say they are still hoping to speak with anyone who may have information on her whereabouts.

“We are asking anyone who saw Sherry around the time of her disappearance or since to contact police directly,” said Const. Simon Gallimore of the Nanaimo RCMP in a release Wednesday.

“Police are aware of social media posts going around asking people to contact persons other than the police with information. This has resulted in numerous unsubstantiated rumours circulating about what may have happened to Sherry,” he said.

Gallimore says it’s important for anyone with information on Corrigal to contact police directly.

“Rumours are just that, rumours. They are a very poor source of information for the investigative team,” he said.

Corrigal stands approximately 5’ tall and weighs 90 to 100 pounds. She has long dark hair and has several distinct tattoos on her back, hands and arms. Some of the tattoos on her back include a daisy and a spider.

Anyone with information on Corrigal’s whereabouts, or who may have seen her in early September, is asked to contact the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345.
