A planned June byelection in the Regional District of Nanaimo won’t be taking place after all.
Charles Pinker was acclaimed as RDN’s next Area C director on May 9 after he was the only person to submit his candidate nomination form before the April 29 deadline.
A byelection had been scheduled for June 4 in order to replace former Area C director Maureen Young who passed away last year.
Instead, Pinker, who had been Area C’s alternate director and was serving as its interim director, will become the new director, replacing Young.
Pinker will continue as alternate Area C director until June 5, after which time he will be sworn in and take over as director until the general local government election on Oct. 15.
