Christian Brandt played the hero as he scored from the side of the net in the fourth overtime period to propel the Campbell River Storm over the Victoria Cougars 4-3 in Game 7 of the VIJHL Championship yesterday.
The Cougars and Storm have met in the last three VIJHL Championship series, and with the two teams splitting the last two series, it was the Storm who prevailed in the rubber-match and will advance to the Cyclone Taylor Cup in Creston, BC.
There is no official statistic, but most VIJHL officials say that this game was the longest in VIJHL history.
