Comox Valley RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service are investigating the circumstances surrounding a woman’s death after her body was found in the Puntledge River on May 31.

According to police, the woman’s body was found in the river at around 7:30 p.m., near 3rd Street and Harmston Avenue in Courtenay.

Police are asking any witnesses to come forward.

“If someone drove, cycled, or walked in this area and noticed anything suspicious, please contact our Major Crime Unit, ”said Const. Monika Terragni, media relations officer with the Comox Valley RCMP.

Andy Watson, manager of communications with BC Coroners Service, said they are in the early stages of the investigation.
