Alpine Disposal and Recycling in Langford closed Monday afternoon due to a workplace injury.

Emergency crews responded to the incident at the recycling centre on Dunford Avenue just after 12 p.m. Ambulances and West Shore RCMP could be seen at the business.

WorkSafeBC has confirmed a worker was transported to Victoria General Hospital with serious injuries. West Shore RCMP confirmed Tuesday that the worker was a male employee at Alpine Disposal and his leg was pinned between a cardboard bin and a truck during the incident.

A sign outside the centre on Monday stated that the business is closed until further notice.
