Boat engulfed in flames at a Port Alberni marina, RCMP investigating

Port Alberni Fire says the investigation of a boat that was fully engulfed in flames Tuesday afternoon has been been turned over to the RCMP.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m., Port Alberni firefighters responded to reports of a vessel on fire in the 2900-block of Harbour Road, at the Harbour Quay Marina.

Responding crews were able to knock the fire down quickly, but officials say there was also limited damage to a couple of nearby boats and to the marina, itself.

There were no injuries reported and the fire is considered suspicious.
