BC Ferries has announced the launch of a brand new, mobile-friendly website where customers can book, reserve sailings and view updated schedules and current conditions.

The ferry company says that the new website – which officially launched on Tuesday – is aimed at simplifying “planning, booking, and paying.”

One of the features of the mobile-friendly site is that it includes “dynamically generated, real-time” updates for daily schedules as well as the current conditions at all major terminals, according to BC Ferries.

The company says that it has added enhanced account management capabilities, for an easier way to manage bookings, whether it involves adding, changing, or cancelling.

Another new tool is the trip planner option, which BC Ferries says allows customers to find sailings and calculate fares on any route before travelling.

For customers on Northern and Central Coast routes, booking and paying for vehicle and passenger fares – including resident fares – online is now an option.

BC Ferries adds that cabins and seats are also available to book online in advance, on applicable northern vessels.

One thing that the ferry company outlines as an additional change from the previous website is in regards to current conditions. BC Ferries says that the new website now displays the percentage of space available, rather than how full the sailing is based on percentage.

“As BC Ferries navigates these uncertain times, the company continues to work to keep everyone safe and make travelling the Coast a better experience than ever,” reads a statement from a BC Ferries press release.

The company is also taking customer feedback and suggestions on the new website, which can be submitted at bcferries.com.
