BC Ferries says all sailings along the Mill Bay to Brentwood Bay route will sail as usual Thursday, after the company initially said 10 sailings would be cancelled.

On Wednesday evening, BC Ferries said that sailings along the route would be cancelled between 1:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Thursday due to a staff shortage.

However, around 10:45 a.m., BC Ferries said it had secured enough crew to complete the sailings.

Other cancellations

Four sailings between Nanaimo and Vancouver remain cancelled Thursday.

The cancellations are due to an issue with the Coastal Renaissance vessel’s main engine, according to BC Ferries.

As of Thursday morning, the following sailings have been cancelled along the Duke Point to Tsawwassen route:

  • 9:00 a.m. departing Duke Point (Nanaimo)
  • 11:30 a.m. departing Tsawwassen (Vancouver)
  • 2:00 p.m. departing Duke Point (Nanaimo)
  • 4:30 p.m. departing Tsawwassen (Vancouver)

BC Ferries says it expects other sailings along this route to depart as scheduled Thursday, though it will provide updates on the state of the vessel as they become available.

“We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of these cancellations,” said the company in a statement Wednesday.
