WATCH: Unusual winter conditions for both Vancouver Island and the South Coast made for a rough start to the weekend. Isabelle Raghem has more.
Air travellers in Victoria faced disruptions Friday as a winter storm hits the Vancouver area.
The wintry weather across the province’s South Coast brought flight cancellations and delays to both Vancouver and Victoria.
Several flights to & from #Vancouver have been cancelled at #YYJ due to storm. Spoke to one family who is missing one whole day in Mexico because of it. One man adding 20+hrs travel time to get back home to Italy. @CHEK_News pic.twitter.com/0m72ujREHo

People who are going to either airport are advised to check with their airline for flight information. Those going to the Vancouver Airport are also asked to leave plenty of time to get there.

Despite the snow picking up at YVR we have decided not to call in the Plow King for support due to questionable business practices. Our amazing team along with their 80 plus pieces of snow equipment have got this handled! #YVRSnowOps #BCStorm pic.twitter.com/UmBJpBx8O7

Harbour Air also cancelled all remaining flights due to weather conditions. There was also some snow being seen at the Victoria International Airport.
Snow started in falling in Metro Vancouver, Whistler and the Fraser Valley, as well as on the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island, on Friday morning.
Snowfall warnings have been posted by Environment Canada for Metro Vancouver, Howe Sound (Sea to Sky), Sunshine Coast and the Fraser Valley, advising that up to 20 centimetres of snow is expected in areas away from the water, and 25 centimetres could blanket the North Shore before tonight.
Conditions are expected to ease and possibly turn to rain overnight.
Snowfall warnings are also posted for the Cariboo, Prince George, North Coast inland regions and for areas along the B-C/Yukon boundary, with accumulations ranging from 10 to 15 centimetres in most areas.
The Transportation Ministry warned that travel on highways 16 and 97 near Prince George was difficult because of limited visibility and blowing snow.
Several post-secondary schools across Metro Vancouver cancelled classes or exams because of the snow, including Simon Fraser, Emily Carr, and Kwantlen universities, and Langara and Douglas colleges.
