B.C. reports 87 new COVID-cases over the weekend, one in Island Health

British Columbia health officials have reported 87 new cases and three deaths from COVID-19 since their last update on Friday.

The number of confirmed cases in B.C. climbs to 147,90 and the death toll rises to 1,759. Thirty of the new cases occurred Friday to Saturday, 37 were recorded Saturday to Sunday and 20 were confirmed Sunday to Monday.

Of the new cases, 33 were recorded in Vancouver Coastal Health, five were in Fraser Health, one in Island Health, 45 in Interior Health, and one in Northern Health.

There are currently 652 active cases in the province and 83 people in hospital — 22 of whom are in intensive care.

A total of 145,362 people in B.C. have recovered from COVID-19 while 5,288,644 doses of vaccine have been administered province-wide.
