A B.C. woman will be trying to dethrone a fellow Canadian tonight as the Jeopardy! champ.
Musician and educator Caitlin Hayes of North Vancouver will be one of two new contestants facing off against nine-time winner Mattea Roach.
The 23-year-old Roach has won just over $210,000 USD on the TV game show.
According to Jeopardy’s daily box scores, Roach — who is originally from Halifax but now lives in Toronto — has a 93 per cent accuracy rate in answering clues across all nine games so far.
On Friday, the “Final Jeopardy” category of “Academy Award Winners” secured Roach’s ninth victory with the clue “In 2019 he won his first competitive Oscar, 36 years after a Student Academy Award for a film about a Brooklyn barbershop.”
With a bid of $6,201, Roach correctly wrote “Who is Spike Lee?”
A surprisingly serviceable Canadian accent at the end of Ken’s intro!! So excited to rep Canada with @caitlinjhayes tonight (Sarah is wonderful as well but alas, not a fellow traveler) https://t.co/CG1XN8gZ0Y
