Anderson Cooper to begin celebrity hosting stint on Jeopardy! next week

As the celebrity guest-hosting continues on Jeopardy! in the wake of Alex Trebek’s passing, next week award-winning anchor Anderson Cooper will be in the spotlight.

The well-established journalist will be hosting for the next two weeks from Monday, April 19 to Friday, April 30.

As part of the hosting gig, each celebrity that takes a turn will have money donated to a charity of their choice — amounts equaling the total winnings of the contestants in the weeks that they appear.

For Cooper, he will be hosting in support of two charities: The Albert Schweitzer Hospital and Justice Defenders.

Cooper, who has also been a contestant on the show, said that he was excited the first time he got to meet Trebek.

“I remember when he walked on the stage, there was just something about seeing him and I’ve met a lot of famous people, but for some reason he was someone who was just such an integral part of my entire youth and growing up,” Cooper said prior to his hosting premier.

Cooper steps into the role following two weeks of hosting by NFL Super Bowl Champion, Aaron Rogers.

Since the passing of Alex Trebek towards the end of last year, Jeopardy! has opted to utilize a series of guest hosts this season as the show continues to air on weeknights.

The first person to take on the gig following Trebek’s death was Jeopardy!’s Greatest of All Time winner and consulting producer Ken Jennings.
