Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District directors to face election

Four of the six electoral areas in the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District are up for election.

Bob Beckett is acclaimed to electoral area A, Bamfield, and Fred Boyko is acclaimed to electoral area B, Beaufort.

Voters in all areas, including the acclaimed areas, will vote for school trustees in the Pacific Rim School District.

Advance voting will take place on Oct. 5 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Regional District Office in Port Alberni
  • Ucluelet Community Centre
  • Tofino Council Chambers

On Oct. 12 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., advance voting will be offered at the Regional District Office in Port Alberni.

On general voting day on Oct. 15, the following voting locations will operate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Bamfield Fire Hall
  • Harold Bishop Fire Hall
  • Beaver Creek Fire Hall
  • Cherry Creek Community Hall
  • Ucluelet Community Centre
  • Tofino Council Chambers

Voters can also request a mail ballot.

Area C through F will face an election with one director elected for each area.

Area C, Long Beach, has two people seeking the seat – Saya Masso and Vaida Siga.

Area D, Sproat Lake, had three people step up – Derek Appleton, Penny Cote, and Heather Powell.

There are two people in the running in area E, Beaver Creek – Susan Roth and Cindy Solda.

Cherry Creek, area F, has two people – Darren Deluca and Mike Sparrow.

In 2018, 1,427 people voted for a voter turnout of 28.5 per cent.
