It was a difficult situation for five ducklings Saturday afternoon. The ducklings had fallen into a storm drain on the side of a road in Saanich and had become trapped.

Saanich Fire Department chief Dan Wood said a citizen walking by alerted the fire department of the stuck ducklings, and Engine 1 “A” shift crew came to the rescue.

Cheif Wood said Captain Manhas and his team were able to rescue the ducklings from the storm drain before the rain came.
