The Victoria Police Department is looking into a single-vehicle crash in Downtown Victoria in the early hours of Thursday morning.
At approximately 2:30 a.m., VicPD offers were called to the intersection of Yates Street and Broad Street, to the scene of a vehicle that had crashed into a building.
According to police, the car was travelling westbound on Yates Street when the driver attempted to turn the wrong way up Broad Street, which is a one-way street heading south.
The male driver crashed into the University of Victoria Legacy Art Gallery building.
He was then transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“We continue to investigate this file today to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision, including if impairment by drugs or alcohol was a factor,” said Cst. Cam MacIntyre, spokesperson for the VicPD.
Police also say they are investigating to determine if a passenger was in the vehicle at the time of the collision and fled the scene before police showed up on scence.
