The Nanaimo RCMP is investigating an early morning break and enter where a thief made off with 29 pairs of sunglasses from a local business.

The Nanaimo RCMP is investigating an early morning break and enter where a thief made off with 29 pairs of sunglasses from a local business.

In a report issued on Thursday, police say that the incident occurred at 1:20 a.m. on Monday, December 14, 2020, at Diamond Eyes Optical – located at 504-530 Fifth St.

According to Nanaimo RCMP, the break-in was reported when business staff arrived for work the following day.

Officers believe that the suspect picked the lock to gain entry to Diamond Optical and a review of security footage showed an unknown man entering the business and leaving after a few minutes with a collection of sunglasses.

Police noted specifically that the thief made off with multiple Ray-Ban brand sunglasses during the break and enter.

Officers are describing the suspect as a man who was carrying a reusable grocery bag (green/ orange) and wearing a black jacket with the hood up.

He was also spotted on security camera wearing a black and royal blue face mask, black pants and white gloves.
