A Gofundme page has been set up to help out staff of the Cobblestone Pub in Cobble Hill out of work following a major fire.

30 firefighters from Mill Bay, Cowichan Bay and Shawnigan Lake were called to fight the flames at the popular pub last Friday morning, June 1st.

They were able to stop the fire from spreading throughout the building but there was significant damage.

“The pub can be rebuilt but this is going to effect all of the staff that work there,” reads a note from Mark Palmer who set up the Gofundme page.

“The fire is going to put many of the amazing staff out of work for potentially several months.”

Palmer describes the pub as the social hub of the community and a place enjoyed by travelers far and wide.

The campaign has already raised $3500, well beyond its original goal of $1000.
