Nearly a half-dozen recent flights linked to Vancouver Island have been identified as having had a COVID-19 exposure onboard.

Since Wednesday, the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) has added five Island flights to its coronavirus exposure list. Three of the flights are linked to Nanaimo while the remaining two flights are linked to Victoria.

The five flights with exposures are listed below:

– WestJet 3295 from Vancouver to Victoria on Sept. 11 (affected rows are 7-13)
– Harbour Air 802 from Nanaimo to Sechelt on Sept. 10 (affected rows not reported)
– Harbour Air 821 from Sechelt to Nanaimo on Sept. 10 (affected rows not reported)
– WestJet 3391 from Victoria to Edmonton on Sept. 10 (affected rows are 6-12)
– Air Canada/Jazz 8261 from Vancouver to Nanaimo on Sept. 7 (affected rows are 15-20)

Those who were on a flight that has been added to the province’s COVID-19 exposure list should self-monitor for symptoms for 14 days and those who were sitting in rows identified are considered to be at a higher risk of exposure due to their proximity, says the BCCDC.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, chills, cough or worsening of chronic cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, loss of sense of smell or taste, runny nose, headache and fatigue.

The addition of five flights to the province’s COVID exposure list brings the total number of Island flights with reported exposures this year to 147.
