Nanaimo RCMP have cordoned off the bus loop at Woodgrove Centre due to a suspicious package being found Saturday afternoon.
The package was discovered on the West side of the loop, and RCMP say they were contacted at 2:30pm.
The Vancouver-based RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit has been dispatched to the scene and is expected to arrive by 6 p.m.
Police have also restricted access to Entrance #3 into the shopping centre, beside Tim Horton’s. Interior traffic in the mall has not been affected.
Shortly before 8 p.m., Nanaimo RCMP tweeted that the Explosive Disposal Unit had disposed of the package and determined that it dod not pose any risk to the public.
The area was re-opened to traffic shortly after.
