A woman was arrested after she allegedly ran a red light while on an e-bike, failed to listen to a police officer’s directions and then fought with the very same officer.

According to the Victoria Police Department, a woman on an e-bike ran a red light directly in front of an officer at the intersection of Bay and Blanshard shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The officer then followed the woman, who initially refused to stop. Once stopped near Queens Avenue, the woman began fighting with the officer, who was attempting to take her into custody as she was violating court orders.

During the fight, the officer called for additional officers, which generated a large police presence. At least seven vehicles were seen by CHEK News around the Travellers Inn, at the corner of Queens Avenue and Blanshard Street, shortly before 9 a.m.

However, once additional officers arrived on the scene, the woman was arrested and taken into custody without incident.

VicPD says the woman, who was not identified, was violating two court orders — not to possess or operate a bicycle of any kind and 24-hour-a-day house arrest — at the time of the incident.

She remains in custody.
