The Nanaimo RCMP is seeking witnesses after a woman was injured when an SUV collided with her motorized wheelchair.

The Nanaimo RCMP is seeking witnesses after a woman was injured when an SUV collided with her motorized wheelchair.

In a police report, officers say they responded to the incident, which occurred around 11 a.m. on Dec. 31, 2020, in the 1800-block of Bowen Rd.

Investigators have determined that a 63-year-old woman, who was operating a motorized wheelchair, entered the northbound lanes on Bowen Rd near the Tim Hortons.

Police say that while the woman was attempting to cross over the two northbound lanes in her motorized wheelchair, she was struck by a green Kia Soul.

The woman in the wheelchair suffered serious injuries, according to the police report, and she was taken to Nanaimo hospital in order to receive medical treatment.

Nanaimo RCMP is searching for any motorists who were in the vicinity at approximately 11 a.m. and that may have dashcam footage or cell phone video of the incident.
